Bringing the Bridal Shop to Your Home

When Ohio native, Christie Martin, found her dream wedding gown while on a shopping trip in New York, she had a wonderful idea: what about the other women who might not be able to get out and try different brands and styles? What could make the process of finding that dream dress a little easier for brides to be? Armed with this inspiration, Martin, along with friend Annie Tsiliandis, started Ivec & Rossa, an in-home bridal boutique concept last fall. Much like other in-home shopping concepts that are gaining popularity like Stitch Fix or Gwinnie Bee, Stella and Dot, and so much more, Ivec & Rossa provides brides to be with the opportunity to try on wedding dresses in styles and by designers they might not otherwise find access to right from the comfort of their own home.

This bridal shopping party costs $150 for a sample dress, fitting key, a measuring kit with instructions, bouquet of flowers, and five days to try the dress. The $150 fee can then be applied to the cost of the dress when the bride has found the one. According to Martin, so far, all brides have decided on the first dress they try, though there are options for trying additional dresses. Martin and Tsiliandis strive to make Ivec & Rossa more than simply a courier service for dress sample sizes. In contrast, their business model puts the home experience at the forefront of the design.

"It's not just, 'Here's a dress, see you later,'" Martin told Columbus Business First.

Friends are encouraged to chip in and attend the party, making it about more than just trying on another garment, but rather a momentous milestone meant to be shared with family and friends.

Martin and Tsiliandis are testing new markets locally with new designers and styles hoping to find what will best meet their customers' needs and meet the many demands of the bridal gown industry with their unique business.
